There Are Plenty of Ways to Celebrate This Spring!

April is one of the most fun months of the year, as the chill of winter is leaving us behind and the warmth of sunny spring arrives. While you might not think of April as a month packed with many different holidays, there are plenty of fun (and silly!) opportunities to celebrate by yourself or with your family. How will you be celebrating this spring?

National Siblings Day: April 10th

This holiday is a great excuse to get in touch with your siblings and spend time with them, or get together with your children and celebrate their sibling relationships. The day was founded by Claudia Evart many years ago to recognize the special bond that brothers and sisters share after she lost her siblings early in life. Just like Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, National Siblings Day is all about family.

Tea Day: April 21st

While coffee might be more popular in the United States today, Tea Day is a fun chance to celebrate the unofficial drink of Britain. The date was chosen because it is also Queen Elizabeth’s birthday, and her love of tea is well-known. To celebrate Tea Day, you could purchase a special blend just to try, or have family and friends over for a tea party. What blend of tea will you be sipping on April 21st?

World Book Day: April 23rd

Do you love to read? For over 25 years, World Book Day has been celebrated in countries and communities all around the world. On this day, UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) recognizes the ways that literature can connect all of us around the globe to one another. In celebrating this day, UNESCO encourages all readers to break out of their comfort zones and read something from a new culture, a new author, a new genre, or something that they would not typically try.

World Dance Day: April 29th

World Dance Day is the perfect time to break out your dancing shoes and boogie with someone that you love. This day also celebrates the important role that dance plays in all of our lives and our cultures. To celebrate, consider going to a dance performance or theater performance in your community, or head out to a local community center for some square dancing.
